On 1 April 2024, a new housing allocation scheme came into place across West Northamptonshire replacing the 3 legacy schemes which operated in the Daventry, South Northamptonshire and Northampton areas.
Alongside implementing the new scheme we are transferring to a new computer system and online portal which will provide improved services for residents and applicants. If you wish to be on the housing register, you must apply or re-apply, even if you were previously verified and had a live application before 19 February 2024. It is important to make sure you do re-apply; if you don’t, your application will be automatically deleted. Once you have reapplied there will be a period where you will not be able to bid for properties. This will enable all applicants time to re-apply and will ensure nobody is unfairly disadvantaged during the bidding process. You may also wish to view a copy of the new scheme for further details about the changes.

Apply for Housing

  • In order to complete an application you will have to provide proof of ID, photo ID alongside NI number, income, or benefits if applicable.
  • Use the Start option to start a new housing application.
  • Please note, if you need more time to gather information while completing the online form, your application will be saved and can be retrieved using the main applicants surname, date of birth and national insurance number. Once your application has been submitted you will be unable to make any changes through the portal.

  • When you have entered all the required information, use the Confirm option to submit your details and create your application.

Once everyone has had the opportunity to apply, we will operate a choice based lettings (CBL) scheme for allocating council and housing association homes for rent. We use a housing register to:

  • Make allocations to housing stock we own.
  • Provide nominations to rented and low-cost ownership housing owned by housing associations.
